Zennor

– “At Zennor one sees infinite Atlantic, all peacock-mingled colours, and the gorse is sunshine itself. Zennor is a most beautiful place: a tiny granite village nestling under high shaggy moor-hills and a big sweep of lovely sea beyond, such a lovely sea, lovelier even than the Mediterranean..... It is the best place I have been in, I think" (D.H Lawrence 1916).

I don’t know if Lawrence visited the Tinner’s Arms, but you should; it was built in 1271 to accommodate the masons who built St.Senara’s Church, which is famous for it’s mermaid. Alastair Sawday’s ‘Cream of the crop’ pub in 2006. A six mile walk if you are brave enough – taxi, or the infrequent bus back to St Ives. The Tinners is a fabulous pub, and they have regular live music nights on Thursdays www.tinnersarms.com
